A boat song, steadily flowing. Written in Summer of 2008 to celebrate my new peddle boat.
This song was written when it was hot, my room was small with no ventilation and I had just returned from nice boat rides on the canals of Amsterdam with a cool White Russian. Riding a boat is peaceful, especially when it has no motor.
With this song, I tried a lot of things while recording. I added a drum loop and played a bass track. I added as many voices as I felt like.
So this song doesn't really sound too much like it would when you hear me play it live. But since it is one where not too much happens, it is also a great canvas to try things.
lyrics
Silence on the water
is everything I need
throw away your motor
enjoy the waterfiets
I'm treading water with nowhere to go
I don't push no one - keep swaying in the waves you blow
'cause baby in this city
is nowhere I can be
reading and roaming
glorious and free
I'm treading water with nowhere to go
I don't push no one - keep swaying in the waves you blow
You blow
You blow
You blow
You blow
...
I push no one
I push no one
I push no one
I push no one
I've seen this guy develop into a very productive web-songwriter during the last two years, after I had noticed him on Soundcloud. A great example of creative flow, really got into liking the voices. Nic Honey
