Midtempo song with a nice walking bass line. A tale of me meeting "cheesy old death", from 2004.
Back in 2004 I had a job I didn't like and I had never really lived anywhere else. I felt my mortality very clearly and after some months I knew I had to leave town and start to go to university again. Time is short.
This song is now more than 5 years old and has undergone a lot of different versions. Recently, I decided it should not be sad in any way. It is definitely not funny, either, so it at least deserves a little Groove.
lyrics
I was walking down ol' road
like all those miles before
when up front a sign said "Let go!"
"There is only you, me and the road."
I whined and I turned around
to see who had always followed me
Cheesy old death looked keen and he rose a brow
He rolled his eyes in routine and said so:
"There is only you, me and the road
and I want you to go ahead.
Only if you throw it all away you'll see
what's left.
There is only you, me and the road
There is only you, me and the road"
All of the things I threw
had wrestled deep inside of me
It hurt us all but still the truth remained
I breathed in deeply when he said again:
I've seen this guy develop into a very productive web-songwriter during the last two years, after I had noticed him on Soundcloud. A great example of creative flow, really got into liking the voices. Nic Honey
